Dr. Laura Catherine Schlessinger was born on January 16, 1947 is an American talk radio host, socially conservative commentator and author. In 2007 Dr. Laura was given an Exceptional Public Service award by the Office of the U.S. Secretary of Education.
In the mid-1970s she met Lewis G. Bishop, a professor of neurophysiology. According to divorce filings, Dr. Laura and Bishop began an affair. Bishop left his wife and moved in with Dr. Laura. They lived together as an unmarried couple for approximately nine years, and Dr. Laura tried to get pregnant after reversing an earlier tubal ligation and suffering an ectopic pregnancy.
